Tick Tock...

1 comment:
Hubby and I were out and about this past weekend, over in Post Falls, Idaho.... we popped into a quaint shop when I spotted this "object d'art" on the wall!
What a great way to re-purpose watches, buttons and paint brushes (the hands on the clock)...
Good thing it was not for sale or it would be in my sewing room as I type!

Ok, so the weather reporters have been saying for the past week, that we can start expecting snow any day... and sure enough, on Saturday, while out running errands in Spokane we got a whole 5 minutes of light snow that pretty much melted as soon as it hit the ground.... then this morning I woke up to this.....

My lavender is covered in a layer of frost....
Normally you can see the National Weather Station past the trees... but this morning you cant see the trees or the Weather Station....

More Wool Felt and Crafts....
I 'sew' enjoyed making the Beehive Penny Rug that I just had to make another one as well as a few other goodies....
I just had to create a little something for my Scotty trailer as well....
I found these cute  plaid Scotty dog buttons to add some charm...
Then I decided I needed a "Give Thanks" pillow... I printed up a picture of 'Adoption Day' for our daughter and Son-in-Love's adoption of the girls..... (little brother is still a Foster,,, but we are hoping by January adoption procedure can move forward.)
I ironed on the transfer, trimmed it and now it sits on the sofa.

Tiered Dessert Plate

1 comment:
Look what I came across while out Thrifting... a pink petticoat and this sweet tiered dessert plate.
The plate was $3... jeepers, it would cost me more than that to make one myself..so I gladly purchased it.
I could not pass up on this dusty rose~pink petticoat,,, after all, a gal can never have enough petticoats,,,right?    :>)
I also scored another wool coat for 99cents... to which I will wash, cut up and use for my wool craft projects this Winter. Ahh, it was a good day to Thrift!

Disappearing Towns....

2 comments:
I had to run up the road to the small town of Reardon, a farming community, to stop at the AGLink shop to pick up some weed control.... As I was heading back home, I decided to take one of the side roads....you just never know what you will see.....
How sad, this old building is left to just melt away....
I wonder what it use to be...
Is this the plight of so many rural communities?

Another Penny Rug...

2 comments:
Well I have been 'busy a a Bee' whipping up some rugs and what nots... One of my sweet neighbors is having a Craft Faire at her Log Cabin the weekend of Oct. 19-20th... and she talked me into crocheting some rugs and a few other little goodies to sell.
So here are 2 things I finished up yesterday....
This 'Penny Rug' is a candle rug..... I love the 'busy as a bee' motif.  It's hard to see, but in the center of the flowers is a tiny glass bead. I have been enjoying stitching up wool felt goodies like these.
Again, hard to see, but,,, this is a lamp shade.... I bought the shade at a Thrift, cut off the fabric then replaced it with strips of cotton fabric.
I saw a lot of these at the Farm Chick show this past summer...and thought,,,hmmm,,, I can do that!  and I did!
Well off to meet up with some of my gal~pals for dinner.... poor Gary is going to be home with a frozen dinner & 2 lazy cats..but knowing him,,, he will be watching the Vice Presidential Debate on TV tonight.

Mad for Plaid!

1 comment:
I love this plaid wool blanket......made in Scotland for a small village in Germany...

Rothenburg ob der Tauber,,,,

As some of you know,, I love wool blankets,,,and have a nice little collection of them....but this one is extra special to me....every visit I make back to Germany to see family and my childhood best friend,,, we take a side trip over to Rothenburg... a small German village (now a tourist destination) that has maintained a lot of it's History.....right down to a museum of Medieval weaponry....
The famed Kathe Wohlfahrt Christmas shop is also in Rothenburg,, one of my favorite stops.... (http://www.wohlfahrt.com )
Rothenburg is a great location for a lazy stroll, a wonderful lunch and a visit to the largest year round Christmas shop...  I am feeling pangs of homesickness.....

My Latest Finds...

2 comments:
This is my newest refrigerator dish, my other refrigerator dish is green...
These covered dishes were often given as 'gifts' when a homemaker purchased a Westinghouse refrigerator..... you could use them for butter or cheese or what ever.  I stash candy in mine...
I was 'visiting' one of my favorite 2nd hand stores and look what I found!!! OMG! A awesome 1960's Bar!... I can just see this, sitting in a living room along the wall, sharing space with a turquoise sofa and some Dean Martin on the stereo....
I love this pattern.... all I need to do is give it a bit of fresh black paint on the legs, dust it off and then stock it with .....!
Hmmm, now I need to find a turquoise sofa.. I already have the Dean Martin CDs....
