August in Oakhurst...

"Trailer Slugs"... doesn't every Glamper have some?  snork, giggle!!!!
Ray, Pam, me and Gary at the 'Tenaya Lodge' up in Yosemite...
Tenaya Lodge has this great Lounge....   just sayin'.....
Gary, Pam and Ray... it seems like we went into 'Music' overload this week, first a fund raiser concert and then dinner and a sing-a-long on the Sugar Pine Rail Road...  fun fun fun and tons of food!
While over in the Von's parking lot (in Oakhurst) I spotted this tour bus.. it was one of three buses. So needless to say I just had to go see...and as it turns out, it was a German tour group... I had a delightful time chatting with the tour guide about Germany... This is a 'Sleeper' bus.... and as you can see it has 27 sleeping births.
So on Thursday's they have a 'Farmers Market' up here in Oakhurst.... I met the most delightful lady who had a Lavender booth.  I bought some of her killer Lavender Truffles,,, OMG! Luv 'em!
Then the following day, Gary and I took a drive down to Coarsegold for lunch. While Gary was reading a magazine I dashed into a cute 'gift' shop and lo and behold,,, look what I found,,, Lavender Jelly!!! I have used Lavender in many recipes as well as for tea, but as of yet, I have not tried my hand at making Lavender jelly... but it's going on my 'To-Do' list....
Oh and the cute little 'sheep'... that is a magnet made from 'fimo' clay and a bottle cap...and yes, it is now on the fridge in the trailer... just when Gary thought he had control of me and my fridge magnet collection... lol!

Well it's been an interesting week... still no luck on finding a home,,, well actually we have put in 2 offers and both sellers, after going back and forth,,, decided not to sell and pulled their homes off the market! So we went back to a previous house that we were interested in and go figure, they had just accepted an offer 3 days ago,, but we went ahead and wrote a back-up offer...so I guess we'll see in 7 more days what happens...  In the mean time,,, the search continues.....  Stay tuned! lol!
Don't forget to take a peek in my other blog (click on the lil trailer icon)...
Happy Trails...

You can't Go Back...

The saying,,, 'you can't go back except in your memories'... is soooo true!
My dear Uncle is 2nd generation Raisin Rancher and now my 2nd cousin is 4th generation... I always loved walking and playing in the vineyards as a child and teenager....
In 1963 daddy was sent to Korea so mom, baby Suszann and I lived with my American Grandmother on my Uncle's ranch... I was in 3rd grade and attended Barstow Elementary school which was condemned 30 years ago... it's kind of sad to see it falling down in such disrepair... this is the better view, I didn't have the heart to post a photo of the other side.
I spent many a recess playing "Lois Lane to Stevie Axe's Superman...  lol!
Even sadder is the little old house we lived in... we called it "the Coop"...
As you can see, it too is falling down... It use to be quit cute.... it was a long barn with a farm implement barn on one side and a horse stall on the other side... yes, my Uncle use to tend his vineyards by horse back in the '50's & 60's...
This was the living room... so sad...
The left side of the barn was cut off leaving the door to the attic exposed...
Looking into the kitchen from the living room..... I remember watching "The Wiszard of OZ" for the first time... in here....
There is a part of me that want's to weep.... but life goes on and we are so blessed to create new memories...  as we will.

1 Month...

Oh My Word!  has it been a month since I last posted?... see what happens when you list/sell your home and move...
Well, here is the quick update on the 'Adventures of Ricky & Lucy'...
We sold our home to a very wonderful couple and then loaded up our 2 kitties and headed back to California... we took our time traveling and then landed in Biola, Calif....  at my dear Uncle's ranch...
Uncle George is a 'Raisin Rancher'... always has been and now the family business is continuing through the Weimert generation...
I spent many a wonderful years there both living and summers vacations...
Then we trekked up the mountain to Oakhurst to spend time with dear old (former Thousand Oaks) friends....
And have been on the 'search' for a home up here...
We have 2 real good possibilities and made an offer on one yesterday.... just waiting to hear back...
I'll be sure to post if our offer gets accepted... wish us luck!
