Spring Cleaning...

What is it about Spring,,, that brings us out of hibernation and into 'cleaning' mode! Guess that's why they call it... "Spring Cleaning"....
I have a small collection of vintage irons that are on display in my laundry room....and once a year I pull them down to be dusted and shined back up.... now I am covered from head to toe in one year old dust! lol!
Yep! that's a lot of dusting!
I don't find to many of these iron trivets,... and when I do, they cost an arm and a leg! but at least I have these 4,,,the two lighter color ones are cast aluminum and the two dark ones are cast iron.
I only have two children's irons. The silver one weighs almost as much as an adult one and it heats up like an adult one... the red one is a light weight tin one... but heats only to a warm temperature.
This one is one of my many cute 'Travel Irons'.... I love the plaid carry bag.
I have 2 of these General Mills irons... which leaves me to wonder if they were acquired with those GM 'points' that one would collect of the box top from GM foods....
and of course,,, no respectable laundry room would be complete with out a 'lingerie ' hanger... you know, for our discrete under-mentionables... giggle giggle...
these 3 are actually from our family... the iron with the chrome tank and brass pump is a Kerosene iron that came from Gary's grandmother in Nebraska.   The 2 cast iron~irons are from my American grandmother who was from Mississippi.  I wish I had one from my German Oma (grandmother)....
The iron to the left weighs 7lbs and the one on the right weighs 5lbs,,,, I have to tell you, my American grandmother was all of 5'2" tall and to think she had to heat these heavy irons to use... makes me laugh to think that she probably had some uber big upper bi-ceps! No wonder women didn't have to 'workout'... doing mundane chores alone was a work out! lol!
Don't Mess with Grandma!
Well, speaking of chores,  I guess I had better get back to dusting,,, these things won't dust themselves! lol!
(I have 29 irons).. does that make me a hoarder?  hahaha!

  2. Nope, not a hoarder. If you have allergies though I'd make your collection much smaller....
