What's in a Name...

I was having way to much fun "shopping" through my 1965 Montgomery Wards catalog when I came across this...
Roller Blades or In-Line Skates....
I had no idea they were around in the mid 1960's...

I remember them in the 1990's, I even bought a pair, took a couple of good spills and decided Roller Blading was not my cup-o-tea!

I guess they did not go over to well back in the '60's... it's all about timing... but they hit popularity by the 1990's....  at $19.95  that might have been sort of steep for a fad that faded out to not reappear again until 1990....

  1. Well, I don't know about you, but I spent a good deal of time in shoe skates as a kid!! Still would if I could!...no sidewalks around here.
Have a wonderful weekend and know that I would be there if I could....sadly, though, Hubbs has a class to take in D.C.....so I will be here alone, minding the farm.

Buy great stuff at the Farm Chicks extravaganza! You will have to shop for the both of us! And I was planning on doing some major damage!!
    Hugs to you!!!!!!!

  2. I thought I could roller blade after giving birth to my 4th child. I figured if I could ice skate, I could roller blade. Ha ha! I was out there for about 2 minutes before I fell, my arms went behind me to catch my fall and I broke my wrist badly. Needless to say, the kids got the brand new skates from me.
