Sweetness in the Sun...
Today while returning home, hubby and I made a quick detour at a yard sale and look what I found (& bought)... A whole bunch of sweetness...
As soon as we arrived home I went straight to the laundry room,,, hand washed/sanitized and rinsed these and then laid them out on the lawn with sprigs of lavender both under and on top of the hankies.
13 hankies, 1 lace ruffled collar and 1 doily
I can hardly wait to iron these bits of sweetness...
I just love hankies,,,, and how they were used, to wipe runny noses, sneezes, tears of joy and sometimes tears of sadness... oh and lets not forget the ever so casual dropping of the hankie in hopes that the 'Gentleman' will retrieve it and hand it back to the lovely damsel...
I personally like to spritz it with perfume' and tuck it into my handbag...Call me Old Fashioned...

An Abundance of Love...
An abundance of love,,, family farm that is..
My beloved Aunt and Uncle were 2nd generation farmers in Biola (West end of Fresno), California... now both are gone but are still wonderful memories in our hearts...
Now my cousin Stephen, 4th Gen., carries on the family farm.. and has made it grow well in these hard pressed days of farming.
Stephen has expanded the farm from not just raisin grapes, but to Almond trees and now he has added Pistashio trees as well...buying old farm land when possible.
He also added drip irrigation (trees) and other new methods of modern farming to be respectful to the soil and fruit.
Tomorrow harvest starts,,, the grapes will be picked from the vines,,, laid out on sheets of brown paper, called 'trays'.. allowed to dry and then the sheets are rolled and flipped so the other side of the grapes can dry in the heat of the sun.
An unexpected rain could destroy a crop drying on the ground,, causing mildew on the raisins....
The grapes are from the family farm and the grapefruit, oranges and apples are from the neighboring farm,, of my childhood friend, Karen's family farm, also a 4th generation farm.
yep, that's me,,, the 'Raisin Princess' of Weimert and Sons Farm..
Trust me,, I earned these bunches... as a teen my friend Karen and I had to follow behind the pickers to gleen,, making sure no bunches were left on the vines.... and yes it was a dirty job and the 'Yellow jackets' were relentless! but the pay-off back then was we could go swimming in the irrigation canal when we were done.
All wonderful memories,,,,, and the grapes still taste as sweet as they did when I was a teen.

Eggs Anyone?
I luv my 'Chicken Luvin' friends...
They seem to always have more eggs than they need and I love helping them by using some eggs.
We have gone through almost 3dozen eggs in the past 2 weeks and just got 2dozen today...
Now all that said,, poor Gary got attacked by the Rooster this morning... guess the Roo didn't like another good lookin' guy (Gary) around his hens! lol!
The eggs are anywhere from a modest 1" to a little over 2" in size,,, so a normal 3-egg omelet will take anywhere from 4-5 eggs.. but good none the less.
We are certainly eating our share of hard boiled eggs, omelets and French toast... I see egg salad sandwiches on tomorrows menu.. lol!
So now that I have a source for eggs,,, I look forward to a spike in my cholesterol! lol!

A New Do....

I decided to have my hair cut to help me survive the heat...
Not sure I like it but oh well,,, it will grow back....
Wowzers! when did I go soooo grey? lol!
