Sometimes... you just have to follow your heart... and today my heart said it wanted a slice of decadent dark chocolate cake... but.. there was none in my house... so what's a desperate gal to do?
Yep, whip out the "Duncan Heinz" and get to baking...
I can't think of a better way to enjoy my afternoon cup of tea... than with a fabulous slice of dark, rich chocolate cake...
the sweet scent of  tea and chocolate was heavenly....
last bite... do I dare take another slice?

Peanuts...

2 comments:
When my daughter was little (2-4yrs old) I would buys these little summer play suits.. I called them 'peanuts' because they reminded me of a peanut shape.
Hubby and I were young and on a young couples budget so I would buy these at the local Kmart store over in Westlake Village and my daughter would wear this out to play all summer long... now, my daughter is grown, the Kmart store no longer there and I have not seen these since the mid 1970's...
I would gladly buys these for my grand~girlies if I could find them....
Sweet memories...

Channeling My Inner....

1 comment:
I was Channeling my inner Martha, Betty and Sara, today...

Martha Stewart, Betty Crocker and Sara Lee ... yep,,, I Baked today!
Well actually it all started with a trip to Target for a birthday gift for my sweet little grandkiddo...
I spotted a "Cake pop" baking machine... and I thought why not?  After all, they do make for cute little snacks as well as 'party favors' ( I was in a wedding recently and each guest had a cutely decorated cake pop at their place setting.) and have you seen what Starbucks charges for them?

Now, mind you, I am not a big fan of cooking or baking unless I am nearly starving or craving something, or hubby refuses to take me out for dinner... lol!

So needless to say, today was the day to test out my 'cake pop' thingamachinie...
This cute little cake pop/donut hole maker is by "Bella" and can be purchased at Target. It's easy to use and clean up.
Now, here is where I come in... I didn't want to open a box of cake mix and make a gazillion cake pops... so I used my "3-2-1- Cake" mix instead...
(I keep stored in a plastic seal container a dry mix consisting of 1 box of cake mix, any flavor,  and 1 box of (add water only type) Angel Food cake mix. I mix the two together and keep stored in the container.. Then when I need a sweet treat for my afternoon tea or for late night snack attacks, I just spritz a coffee mug with PAM, (spray oil) and then mix 3tablespoons of the dry mix with 2 tablespoons of water, stir and then microwave for 1 minute... Easy Peasy, 3-2-1 cake...
So....
I stirred 6tblsp of mix with 2tblsp of water, sprayed some 'PAM' into the cake pop wells, dropped by spoon some 'batter' into the pop wells and closed the lid and let them bake for 5minutes...
Now the little 'pops' did not rise like a normal cake would so I had to go to plan B... and glue 2 halves together...
I let them cool by the open window.... I am sure grandma would be proud of me...
I made the 'glue' from some 'Andes' chocomint chip bits... I just slightly melted some mints and then I slathered the melted chocomint between two half cake pops...
and yes I licked the knife and the bowl after I was finished 'glueing'.. I could not let good chocomint go to waste!
I let the glued together cake pops harden and then I frosted the cake pops...
and what's a cake pop with out sprinkles! lol!
I decided I needed to sample one before I share with my hubby dearest...
Yep,,, it's Tea time for this Baking Diva....

Now I can just hear you all thinking,,, why didn't I just open the box of cake mix and bake whole cake pops, it would have been faster and easier... but then I would not have had as much fun!. lol!

I Remember these...

No comments:
SO, I guess by admitting that I remember these... I am giving away my age...
Or,,, I could fib and say that I remember seeing these in history books... lol!
The RCA dog and phonograph... a true iconic symbol in Americana vintage signs.
Hubby and I were driving through the little town of Mohave, and stopped at the local Carl's Jr...that's when I spotted this sign, across the street.  Personally, I think it is Kool!
So, am I the only one who remembers these?

Lookie Lookie...

Oh my,,, what a wonderful find... went up to town to the Post Office to pick up our mail and found a package in amongst all the rest of the mail... and look what was inside the package...
Mini, wool Penny Rugs...   I love the Rooster...and it was stitched together from some of the wool fabric that I gave to Andrea,, my dear sweet (former) Spokane, Washington neighbor.
And,,, she also made this cute chicken/egg one as well.

Andrea loves to stitch up penny rugs... and I love finding old wool garments to tear apart and wash. and use for penny rugs and other wool felt craft projects. So between the two of us.. no scrap piece of wool felt goes un-used!
Thank you so very much my dear friend.... 'Andrea, the Queen of Penny Rugs!"....
